OnePlus has revealed the launch date for its upcoming OnePlus 5T flagship smartphone. The Chinese phone maker will be unveiling the 5T, successor to the five-month-old OnePlus 5, on November 16 this month.
What’s interesting here is that OnePlus will be hosting a live keynote event in Brooklyn, New York. If you’ve been keeping up with OnePlus stuff since early days, you probably know that the company keeps experimenting with product launches. It has performed pre-recorded and virtual reality product launches in the past, but for the first time ever OnePlus is doing a physical product launch event, which you can attend in-person. Of course, you’ll have to be in Brooklyn on your own, even though tickets to the OnePlus 5T launch event are just $40.
In a post on the company’s forum, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced the news of OnePlus 5T launch. Pei wrote about the OnePlus fan community, and the efforts that are put into making a OnePlus device.
As many of you know, our team has been hard at work on the OnePlus 5T. But our products aren’t built by us alone, the OnePlus community has played a key role. Feedback from our users led us to develop one of the industry’s most powerful video stabilization solutions, as well as one of its most accurate sRGB display calibrations.
We stepped up community involvement in our product development since launching our Open Beta program back in August 2016. Over 15 thousand users have contributed to this program, by sharing bug reports, suggesting new features, and helping us optimize existing ones.
Our devices are always built together with you. That’s why we’re inviting you to “A New View”, the upcoming OnePlus 5T launch event. We can’t wait to tell you all about the new features and improvements that we have been working on.
Tickets to the OnePlus 5T launch event in Brooklyn, New York are now available to purchase for just $40, while those who can’t make it to Brooklyn can watch the event livestream on November 16 at 11am ET.
Pei also shared that the sales for OnePlus 5T will begin on November 21 in North America and Europe, followed by China on December 1. And if you’re in India, you can get your hands on the handset on November 21 through a flash sale, while official sales begin a week later.
